During the winter months, fall hurricane season, or for any unforeseen circumstances, it may be necessary to close school for the entire day, delay the opening of school, or have an early dismissal.  The decision to close school is one of concern for the safety and welfare of our school children.

The announcement of an emergency school closing will be made using the School Messenger automated calling service,

The School Messenger service will call two (2) telephone numbers that have been supplied by you at the start of the school year.  It is important that any changes in this information be reported to Mrs. Weston, database administrator, during the school year.  These two telephone numbers will be used for school closings, delayed openings, as well as, early dismissals.  Therefore, please make sure we have a number other than a home telephone should the need arise for an early dismissal.

Delayed opening:  on any weekday other than Thursday, school will start two hours later at 10:25 a.m.;
on Thursday – due to a 2:00 dismissal time – school delays will start at 9:25 a.m.

Early dismissal usually will be at 1:00 p.m. unless there are extenuating circumstances.

It is important that you “role play” with your child(ren) what they are to do in case school must close early.  How would they get home; into the house; who should they call to report that they have arrived home safely; is there a neighbor who could help?

It is imperative that your child be picked up and/or leave the building at the designated early dismissal time as the faculty and staff must vacate the building as well, especially in the event of an emergency.  Child care will not be provided.
